Fabienne Loyens
Fabienne Loyens (1967), studied ceramics and glass in the PXL University College in Hasselt (B). She is ceramic lecturer at the Academy of Leuven (B). Fabienne refinded her skills in numerous workshops on Glass and ceramics. Her work is often shown in Belgium but was represented in the Westerwald museum in Germany and Jingdzehen in China.
In her collection 'Let's take Nature as our religion!', Fabienne explores the relationship between humans, nature, and religion. Her ceramic sculptures are inspired by elements and materials from nature and historical art, such as that of Ancient Egypt. By combining the pot form with elements like the scarab, these works symbolize decay and rebirth. Fabienne finds ample inspiration in her garden, which also serves as a source for natural materials for her experiments with homemade glazes. These give her work a unique character. She presents her works in defined spaces, inviting the viewer to contemplate the harmony between humans and nature.
